NFF, FIFA disagree on new date for Eagles / Cameroon clash

The AUTHORITY gathered that FIFA had in a letter to the NFF moved the game, which was earlier slated for September 1 to August 30.
But even as the NFF disclosed yesterday that it is yet to respond to the FIFA request, it noted that it has no intensions of accepting the new date, adding that the federation has already focused and put all its plan on the earlier agreed date.
Sources at the federation told The AUTHORITY yesterday in Abuja that the new date as proposed by FIFA will not be accepted by the NFF, stressing that the new date could disorganise the federation's plans for the game.
“This match is of great importance to us, just as we know that is is to Cameroon. So we have all planned ahead of the date and I do not think that we will accept the new date as proposed by FIFA. We will however communicate our position to FIFA very soon.
“We always play our matches during weekends, to give our supporters the opportunity to cheer the team, accepting to play the match on August 30, which is a Friday as proposed by FIFA will be to our great disadvantage and this we will communicate to them”, an NFF source said.
