Chelsea to Announce Mystery Signing on July 1 After Completing 1st Summer Deal

Chelsea have reportedly wrapped up the signing of former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero, but won't unveil him until July 1.

The London Evening Standard are reporting that the Blues, who won the Premier League title last season, have agreed a deal with the stopper. And he is now set to replace the departed Asmir Begovic, having been released by City at the end of the season.

The Argentinian's time at City saw him play mostly as a second-string keeper, and the London side view him as the perfect back-up option for Thibaut Courtois.

Caballero was Pep Guardiola's first choice for a brief period last season, with Claudio Bravo being benched after a few high-profile mistakes. He stepped up quite well, holding his own between the sticks before Bravo was returned to the starting lineup.

The Blues, meanwhile, are keen to get their transfer business off the ground. Antonio Conte was reported as being frustrated with the club's lack of signings thus far, however, conflicting reports are claiming the Italian has no issue whatsoever and is being patient.

The Premier League champions are expected to sign Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton this summer, as well as Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Juventus full-back Alex Sandro is also on their radar, and they have seen a bid of £55.2m knocked back by the Serie A side. But they still retain hope of signing the Brazilian, with Juve willing to let him leave if an improved offer comes their way.
